Paul Bason and James Gathercole qualified from Birmingham Dental Hospital.
Bason And Gathercole Dental Practice, on Uttoxeter High Street, was born.
An exciting new project was in the making on Town Meadows Way, Uttoxeter.
A change of name and location for the practice – Uttoxeter Dental Practice opened its doors.
Marked Paul Bason and James Gathercole’s 70th birthday celebrations.
Sadly James Gathercole retired from Dentistry and the partnership after 46 years.
The practice celebrated it’s 50th year anniversary.
A major change for the practice – we reluctantly said goodbye to the NHS and our UDP scheme was born.

Paul Bason qualified at Birmingham Dental Hospital in 1970, he set up Bason and Gathercole in 1973 with James Gathercole.
He has a keen interest in Implant placement, Periodontal Treatment and all aspects of Oral Surgery.
Outside of work he likes to travel to all different countries racing his very own historic F2 car. He also likes spending time with his family in Cornwall.
(Feel free to ask him about his F2 racing if you would have a free hour or so).

Kate joined the practice in October 2005 she qualified in Warsaw Poland in 1999.
She has a keen interest in Endodontics.
Outside of work Kate enjoys gardening, studying aromatherapy and walking her dog, Suzie. She enjoys spending time with her family back in Poland during the summer.

Peter qualified in 1983 at Birmingham Dental Hospital.
Peter was an associate here at the practice in the 1980s and returned to us in 2019 after setting up his own practice, which he successfully ran for several years. In his spare time Peter enjoys playing golf and bowls with his friends. He also likes to spend weekends down in Cornwall with his wife.

Natasha qualified at University of Birmingham with Clinical Distinction in 2018.
She joined the Practice in November 2021.
Natasha takes a keen interest in Restorative Composite Fillings and currently studying towards her masters in Endodontics.
Outside of work Natasha likes to explore new countries, and when she is home, she loves nothing more than a good book to read and supporting her favourite football team– Arsenal.

Lucy qualified in 2017 at Birmingham Dental Hospital.
She joined the practice in June 2020.
Lucy takes a keen interest in Orthodontics providing fixed appliances for our patients.
Outside of work Lucy enjoys walking and has even climbed mount Machu Picchu. When at home she loves spending time with her family and likes to try out new recipes.

Nabeel qualified at Birmingham Dental Hospital and is our newest member of our team.
He takes pride on being a caring and compassionate dentist who aims to provide the best care to his patients.
He has a keen interest in fixed/removable prosthetics.
Outside of work Nabeel is captain of 5-a-side football team, swims regularly and enjoys travelling.
- Olaniyi Oluwafisayo Komolafe

Olaniyi qualified in 2013 at Obafemi Awolowo University.
Olaniyi started with us in July 2024 covering maternity leave for Lucy Davies, he graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry at Obafemi Awololwo University in Nigeria in 2013. Olaniyi relocated to the UK where he successfully passed the UK board exams in 2019, his special interests are Endodontics.
Outside of work Olaniyi enjoys spending time with his family and staying active by swimming and riding his bicycle.

Heather began her career as a Dental Nurse in 2015 at our Practice where she gained her nursing qualification in 2016 and shortly after her Radiography and Oral Health qualification.
She then qualified in Dental Hygiene & Therapy at Sheffield University in 2021 and then rejoined the practice as a Hygiene Therapist.
Outside of work Heather enjoys going abroad and spending time with her family and friends.

Grace began her career as a Dental Nurse in 2012 and she gained her nursing qualification in 2013 she worked full time before leaving to become a Dental Hygienist.
She then qualified in Dental Hygiene & Therapy at Cardiff University in 2018.

Steph joined the practice in 1996 after completing her A levels, she gained her Dental nursing Qualification in 1999 and Radiography in 2010. She has been nursing alongside Mr Bason since 1997. Steph especially enjoys periodontal surgery and trying to keep Mr Bason in line.
Outside of work Steph is always walking with her faithful companion Albert her black Labrador and her husband. She is trying to walk the whole of the South West Coastal path.

Lisa joined the practice in 2003 and gained her dental nurse qualification in 2007 and Radiography in 2010.
After she was Mr Gathercole’s nurse for 14 years has now been nursing alongside Natasha since 2021.
Her main interests are oral surgery and implants.
Outside of work Lisa enjoys spending time with her family, exploring the country in their caravan. Lisa also loves playing hockey for her local team.

Amy joined the practice in 2019, gained her nursing qualification in 2021 and Radiography in 2022.
She has been nursing alongside Peter since 2019. Her main interests are Periodontal Therapy and extractions. In her spare time Amy enjoys riding in the countryside on her horse Danny.

Hannah joined the practice in 2023. Hannah is very attentive and enjoys all aspects of dentistry.
In her spare time, she loves to do cross stitch and going to craft fayres. She also loves spending time and playing with her cat Treacle. Hannah also loves to bake the most amazing cakes.
- Mollie Allsopp-Gooding

Mollie is currently working towards her NEBDN nursing qualification.
Outside of work Mollie enjoys being adventurous and doing outdoor activities. She also likes spending time at home with her partner and dog Reggie.
- Sasikan Jaenprakhon
- Trainee Dental Nurse
Sasikan joined the team in February 2025. She enjoys going out for nice food and training at the gym.
Receptionists
- Helen Pegg
Helen joined the practice in 1979, she has been part of our reception team for over 40 years. She is very well known by a lot of our patients.
In her spare time, she enjoys walking her dog Bruar, going out for food with her friends and gardening. She also likes to go travelling through Europe with her family.
- Rhona Gardner
Rhona has been one of our receptionists since 2021. She is very organised and keeps reception running efficiently. She is also Mr Basons tea lady.
Outside of work she enjoys doing pole fitness and has an interest in fashion. She also enjoys travelling abroad.
- Joanne Challinor
Jo joined our reception team in 2023 part time. She also works as a hairdresser.
In her spare time, she likes to take her little dog Reggie on a walk and spending time with her children.
